There is really nodifference between UDP and TCP (You keep referring to at UTP which is somethingelse entirely).UDP is sent on abest effort basis not guaranteed delivery as TCP is.Logically you just need to change theprotocol type in the control definition for the system in guidesigner.
When I implement a UDP systemI include a sequence number in the messages, and then send them n times (n generally= 2) with the same sequence number. This provides decent protection againstlost transmissions. The receiverthen drops messages with the same sequence number as one already received.
The RAKO bridge appearsto implement discovery but only returns the netbiosname and the MAC address, not the IP.I am surprised at that.
With regard to the TCPissue I deal with several systems that behave like rokudoes with TCP. I have the gui.control systems set up to be always on and when I startup I use setSystemProperties to disable them so theydo not try and connect. When I wantto transmit something I enable that system, wait for the connection to beestablished, transmit, receive any reply and then disable the system. I timethe enabling when waiting for the connection to occur and if it does not occurin let's say 500 ms then I start the process all over assuming that the devicewas busy with another connection. I only let the timeout loop get repeated afinite number of times and then assume there is some other problem and issue adiagnostic dialog.I do this withan Autelis pool controller (Which also sends me UDP broadcasts of statuschanges in a manner similar to the RAKO bridge claims to do.
Check my website.I believe I posted both the Autelis poolcontroller and the Devantech Relay handler whichoperate the same way for TCP.
Since I wrote thoseprojects, the CF system have added features (at my request) to the systemmanager in gui Designer to allow for easier implementation of this. e.g. theyused to close down after a transmission not waiting for a reply if not markedas always on.Someday I will revisethese projects, but for now Ain't broke ergo no fix.
Feel free to query memore if you need the assistance.
